Become A Peer Leader
Peer Leaders are the heart and soul of WoVeN! They are the force behind connecting women Veterans and guiding members through WoVeN groups.
Becoming a Peer Leader is an exciting opportunity to impact women Veterans, both nationally and locally! The WoVeN team is always looking for Veterans with great leadership skills who are interested in serving in this role. We hold several virtual national trainings throughout the year.

Attending our national WoVeN Peer Leader trainings not only prepare you to lead WoVeN groups, but it also gives you opportunities to connect with WoVeN leaders across the country! These 1½ day trainings are virtual and are offered several times a year.

I am honored to be part of an amazing group of sisters known as Women Veterans. I will take with me new friendships with the amazing Veteran Women I have met, along with some great memories… I feel I have all the right tools, attitude and co-leader to have an amazing group. We will inspire, empower and collaborate in support of the needs of our women Veterans.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Who is eligible to become a Peer Leader?
Any woman Veteran who demonstrates great leadership skills and has completed at least one WoVeN group before!
-
What are the expectations of a Peer Leader?
Peer Leaders are expected to lead at least two WoVeN groups as outlined in the WoVeN manual. It’s important that the groups are consistent and follow this structure so our group members all have the same experience. Peer Leaders are also expected to treat their group members with respect, maintain communication with HQ and their co-leads, and seek support from WoVeN leaders when needed.
-
What are the benefits of training nationally?
When you attend a national training, you have the opportunity to expand your network and connect with other WoVeN leaders throughout the country. Since these trainings are offered online, you’re able to attend from the comfort of your home! This increases the accessibility of the program, particularly to those who live in rural areas or who may not be able to travel.
-
What can I expect during the training?
You can expect opportunities to connect with your cohort, strengthen your leadership skills, and dive deeper into our core WoVeN group modules. Your Trainers will teach you how to lead a group session, share details of our program initiatives, and provide technical training (e.g., how to use Zoom or register a group).
-
I want to become a Peer Leader, but I don’t have a co-leader!
No worries! We will provide you with resources and assistance to find you a great WoVeN co-Peer Leader.
-
Are there more topics that can be covered after an 8-week group is completed?
Yes! Once you complete your training, you will also be equipped to run any Alumni Group. These groups are a great way to deepen connections with your fellow group members or make new connections with other WoVeN members.
-
How do I receive WoVeN materials to run my group?
Once you officially register your group, WoVeN staff will send you an electronic copy of the materials and a Zoom link (if applicable). Group members can use the electronic copy of the worksheets or print them out.
-
How can I get WoVeN t-shirts and other promotional materials?
There are many ways to get WoVeN swag! Prior to your training, you will receive one of our amazing WoVeN boxes with your manual and WoVeN swag. Other ways to earn swag include entering our quarterly raffle and participating in national events or national initiatives such as a WoVeN Still Serving project. We also have a variety of promotional materials you can use for outreach including bookmarks, brochures, flyers, and business cards. Please contact us if you are interested in these.
